Been meaning to sit down and watch this show for a while, any good? Looks funny from the clips on Youtube. I wonder what the writer's opinions on bassists are...

It's a great show. The characters are hilarious and music is honest to god GOOD. I own both of the albums. Of course, it throws jabs at the bass players as well as the other musicians in the band it's all in good fun. Brendan Small is too cool a dude for that stuff to be serious. I mean, he writes all the music .

Brendon Small also made the shows Home Movies and Dr. Katz. He's such a funny guy but you have to like his style of humor to apppreciate it.

I really dig the show, the humor is dark but it's very clever and a must see for metal heads. The albums blew me away! For a fictional band they hold their own with most great metal bands today. The first album is a bit more tongue in cheek , the second one is sick! Each song is original ,no recycled riffs and amazing musicianship .

I'm not a metalhead, but I love the show. Sometimes I stay up late to watch. Always I DVR so I can watch them again. Only someone who loves music could be this clever and funny about it.

I'll add that if you are a Metalhead it's a great way to enjoy fun being poked at the culture. I find it sheds new light on the kind of stuff that you would find out about by, say, reading an issue of Guitar World.

I thought it was really funny at first, and I was amazed that Brendan Small could get so many awesome musicians (King Diamond anyone? ) to do voice acting for some of the background characters, but I've gotten tired of it. YMMV

The first season is phenomenal...but it rather dropped off by the second season IMO, felt like there was too much dead air in the conversations they had in season two =/

If you are into metal or have been in a metal band before, it is brutally hilarious. The bass gags are kind of annoying since a guitard writes the show, but there is plenty of versatile material throughout the series.

If you like the show, try to catch "Dethklok" on tour. Brandon Small on vox & gtr, Bryan Beller on bass, Mike Keneally on gtr, Gene Hoglund (sp?) on drums....my understanding from friends is it's pretty ripping stuff.
