Double Bass Metropolitan #6425 endpin + Gaines Wheel

Does anyone using a #6425 endpin socket + drumstick have any information regarding compatibility with a Gaines wheel?

Since the socket accepts any 5/8" tube, I assume the 5/8" pin for the Gaines would work but I'm wondering if the small plate inside would present any complications (ie. falling out when swapping wheel for pin).

Thanks for any input...

Decide which side you're gonna lay your bass down on when you replace the stick with the wheel and have your luthier rotate the endpin socket so the thumbscrew is facing down. That way, the little plate won't fall out. Also, get a few extras, as they usually fall out at the most inopportune times.
