(Mexi. and American) FENDER P-BASS DIFFERENCE

First you must make a "Potato Clock" and hook the clock up to the Mexican P-Basses Input. Then take a NORMAL clock and hook it up to the American P-Bass. *Imporant* If the Potato clock starts to smell funny run away. Next you must play YYZ by Rush twice on each bass acousticly while hooked to the clocks. Then skip around like a horse while yelling "I'm and idiot, I'm and idiot"

first difference about $700-$900...you can tell the difference by the thicker wallet
ive played a few mexis that were terrible and ive played a few that are reeeeaaalllll nice
unfortunately i can say the same for the americans. mexi is a good bang for your buck bass and some modles can be found with alot of cool factory features and mods that fender dosent go out of their way to put on the american modles...there are alot of cool mexis also some of the older ones have really nice paint colors you dont see on the 'merican ones. i say having a mexi or 2 around is a good investment and you dont have to wince in horror nearly as bad if it takes a hit and you feel more liberated to mod them to your liking. -1 for the mexi basses ..i dont like their typically lighter colored neck and headstocks..looks very bleached out

Yeah...

The build quality is the difference. As in, the MIAs are generally percieved as being of higher quality overall than the MIMs. Better quality wood, hardware, pickups, wiring, etc. But only you can decide if that difference is worth it to you, or if you see any difference at all.

Also, wait a little bit longer before bumping your own thread. It's considered bad form to do it more than once every couple of hours. Three minutes, especially...that's got to be a record.

The MIA is definitely better quality than the MIM. The biggest reason why MIA's are so much higher in price is due to EPA regulations. It costs much more to finish guitars here, as Mexico has no EPA or OSHA regulations.

The electronics are different, the tuners and bridges are different. The American ones have a graphite truss rod, and *really* comfy necks. The paint is typically better on the American ones, as is the finish used on the neck.

The Mexican ones have different choices for paint colours, and there is a lot of variety in models with the Mexican ones.

Both are great bangs for the buck IMHO. :bassist:

USA model has better tuners, better pickups, graphite rods in the necks, truss rod is installed under the fretboard instead of through the back of the neck (thus the "skunk-stripe" on the Mexico models). Wood used on the USA's tend to be of better quality (there are exceptions). Better bridge (high-mass bridge from 2008 to present). Better fretwork.

Am I missing anything?
