miccrosoft media player to wav??

My friend gave me cd to write bass lines for. I tried ripping it onto microsoft media player and then opening it with audacity. Apparently, audacity does not support that file type. How do I turn that file type into a wav file? I searched this forum and could not get any results??

I figured it out. Had to rip the CD with music match and set file type as wav. Couldn't figure the Windows Media Player out.

you cant. you can do what you did, or use iTunes, which is a better music player than WMP anyway...it just doesnt play video.

EDIT: duh, if I could've read the rest of the posts in this short thread. Oh well, I'll leave the link since it's a pretty handy program that's always in my audio toolkit.
