Crap... they're saying his release date can ALSO be modified, according to "prison capacities and overcrowding". Meaning, cuz he's rich and famous he can get out earlier than other inmates who've served most of their time and are more deserving of an early release than he is.

Conservative talkshow host Joe Scarborough (sp?) said it best this morning: "Yesterday Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison for animal cruelty. Look, I just gotta say it. Child molesters are getting 7 months and 2 years probation for raping children, and rapists are getting 18 months for raping women, but he get 2 years for animal cruelty? A dog is more important now? I'm a dog lover, and if anyone harmed my dogs, I'd be willing to fight, but this sentence shows everything that's wrong with our system."__________________

It's not that animal cruelty gets too much, it's that child abusers and/or rapists don't get enough. It's a twisted world we live in!!! :rollno:

+1 on the state charges being a waste of the courts money if they allow sentence to be served concurrently.

No one has mentioned that it isn't just the dog charges he is being sent up for, he is also getting extra time because he was the moneyman behind the whole horror show, and he was too stupid/arrogant to show up clean for his hearing.

This was an entire compound of organized professional dog fighting that spanned states and years. If it was Bubba Thug and Thug Bubba prize-fighting their dogs in an alley then yes, 2 years seems a bit harsh. No less cruel to the dogs, but there is a scale issue here people.
They manufactured killing dogs through torture and deprevation for fun and profit. These monsters should get 10yrs hard time, not 23 months in a "prison camp".

I want to see Vick featured on MSNBC's Lock-Up. A decade at San Q would be a much more befitting punishment.


As far as the child molesters go, touch a child you get dead or permanent incarceration. No second chances, no parole. Just dead or in a box forever, a self-administered lethal dose of sedatives available by request 24-7.

I have a better solution for child molesters and rapists. Murderers, that would require more thought. I mean, if someone murders a child molester or rapist, they should probably get an award.

Maybe in prison he will feel what it is like to have to fight for his own life, like he made many dogs do. But being of high "political" status, maybe he'll be put in one of those really nice, min. security prisons.....??

Some of you folks probably watched too much "Oz".

You really think Vick will be fighting every day or in fear of losing his "viriginity"? On those notes I agree with Dr. Cheese... it's something "you" might have to worry about but I'd bet it'll have squat to do with Vick.

I had a laugh out loud moment yesterday when I first heard about Vick's conviction (and I am an animal lover) immediately followed by the announcement that Scooter Libby decided not to appeal his conviction... seeing as he won't serve a day anyway, what with the intervention of a friend in a high place.

Seems fair.
