Double Bass Micro Head Cases

I just picked up an EA Micro 550 head in our classifieds (BG). Haven't fully road tested it yet, but very impressed by my home testing. Amazed at how small and light it is. 1/2 the size of a big laptop...which brings me to my question.

What is everybody carrying these things around in? EA sells a case for their larger heads and a cab/head combo case for the Wizzy10, but it doesn't appear they make a micro head case. I could use laptop case or sleeve and throw it in my messenger bag with cables and things, but it would rattle around in there. I know that a lot of manufacturers have heads on this scale now. Has anyone discovered a small protective case or sleeve that works well with them yet?

I'm fairly certain that the Peter Palmeri, called Moradian Cases and they made him a custom bag for his Doubler, based on the bag that they make for the Walter Woods. Their are very nice protective bags, I have two of them.

Go to Dick's Sporting Goods and check out ABS plastic pistol cases. When I still had my Woods I toted it around in one of those, which had nice thick foam lining, room for cables and a tuner, and other essentials. If you get one with removable pads, those are good to put between the amp and the cabinet to isolate the amp from vibration.

Wow those look awesome! And another +1 to GhettoBrassGuy. I was in a sporting goods store that had a lot of guns and I was drooling over the cases they had. All different sizes, and nicely priced too . . . Personally I like my MB case for my LMII because I can keep it in the actual case when I use it. Their hard case is obscenely priced though :rollno:

I had problems finding links to bags to. I just remembered that Peter had posted finding his case as part of the Doubler thread. I guess these questions come up when Euphonic Audio, Acoustic Image, and other companies build a new amp and most of the time they offer a case of their own. Markbass does that, but Euphonic Audio's case is really a speaker bag with amp pouches. If you don't use the Wizzy 10, you definitely don't need their bag. Seems like, they'd want to have head bags with their logo on them for the Micro, Doubler, and iAMP. It's a great marketing tool, especially with that bright red EA logo.

I emailed Moordian and asked.

I actually do have a Wizzy 10. If I fell into one of the original backpack units, I might do it, but things that size with shoulder straps, in my experience are not the easy to carry, especially with a bass on the other shoulder. I think it's easier to put the head in a backpack or messenger bag and carry the wizzy by the handle.

I may take it around and look at some Pelican type cases, but looking on-line, I'm kind of feeling now that the better the case, the further form small-lightness that I get.

I actually found a really good Timbuk2 12" laptop sleave with handles that was for a laptop that I dont' have any more. It fits pretty nicely and should be good enough until I happen into something better, if ever. That sleeve, in my messenger back, was good enough for that iBook, it's probably good enough for this head and I haven't added any bulk or weight.

We'll see what response I get from Moordian, though.

Love the Sponge Bob backpack!

The Sponge Bob lunch bag (under $10 at Target) was fun, but I realized that the tight fit was a hassle when packing up in the dark after a long gig. Also, I often need to carry charts, folding music stand, etc. A key feature for me is "top loading," meaning that I can toss stuff in, and it won't fall back out. Also, I don't really need padding, because I don't throw my amp bag around.

So, a small backpack, stolen from my kids, is my new gear bag.

Lotso laptop bags to look through, even used. I found one that fits all the gear for my GK MB Fusion with a space divider that makes room for a tube DI in a neat package. $7 at the recycling center in virtually new condition.

I bought this

from EBAY and found a new one for $25.00. I use an EDEN WTX-500 for smaller gigs. The bag has a pretty good amount of padding and lots of pockets and zippered and velcro adornments. I can fit my speaker cable in one of the pockets and the AC cable in the compartment that separates from the main storage sleeve area.

Prior to that, I had a Walter Woods that I carried in an ATA briefcase (star was the manufacturer) and it fit perfectly if I unscrewed the rubber feet at the bottom. Had room on the side for cables and it was the ultimate protection but pricier.
