Mid heavy strings.

I have Squier that hasn't got much use until recently and I've discovered it has a very nice, thick honky mid range sound. Can anyone recommend strings that will emphasize that and maybe bring some solid lows?

Much appreciated.

Also, no recommendations for flats please. I've tried them and don't really care for them, at least the ones i can afford anyway.

awesome keep them coming.

I read that Fat Beams have a lot of mids to them. Might give those a shot also unless someone has something to say to the contrary.

They do not have a lot of mids, they have a bit more bottom and low mids than Hi Beams, but Hi Beams are very mid-shy so that's not saying much. I'd say they are very scooped sounding though having more oomph than Hi Beams.

Honestly, if your bass has a honky midrange, you will probably want some strings that will flesh out the lows and high mids or highs. For that I would recommend a good stainless string. I like Rotos and Dean Markley Helix. Rotos for extraordinary high mids and a lot of higher overtones, full low mid. DM Helix for a more detailed and articulate low mid.

If you really want a middy string, SIT silencers are just the ticket.
Most nickel strings are going to be a bit more middy.

Elixirs and sunbeams tend to be pretty transparent, in that however your bass inherently sounds, will come through with those strings.

Thanks everyone. I may be getting some roto's just because of how many times it came up.

Toptube, You may be right about steels on it. I'm got an old set of DM Blue Steels on and they sound pretty good. Going to try an old set of DR hi beams just for the sake of it. I used to use Elixir on this bass in the past and never hated them so i may go back. Not sure currently.

The sweetest mids I've heard/played in a round were the Infeld Super Alloys. A bit expensive, but they last longer than just about any other round I've played.

I think the DR Hi Beams are a bit scooped, but LoRiders are heavy in the low mids. SunBeams are nice in the mids as well.
