It's always the guys sitting on the sidelines who like to criticize the working man. Music is about expression. Technique is about developing a playing style that allows you to express the ideas you are trying to express. Can you imagine how silly Jaco would sound with Green Day? Dirnt is the right bassist for the music he's playing. And this Ryst character is obviously an amateur. Why criticize someone who does it for a living?

Dude, we get the picture ok? You don't like them, who cares. I would have cared alot more if you said "I don't think he's a very good bassist, I dont like the genre either, each to his own" and left it at that. Im sure you could have kept some respect from your fellow bassists by doing that, as it happens, you lost mine and I'm sure a few others.

Anyway, Mike Dirnt is a fairly good player, he suits his style of music very well and so does his tone. But I did play his signature the other day and it DID have a sort of growl that I haven't heard in a a fender for quite a while.

BTW, while Dirnt used a Gibson live for a couple years, I remember reading an article about him that said his studio tracks were all recorded with Precisions.

during the dookie and insomniac tours he used a gibson g3. in the tours after that he's used vintage precisions mostly, until the ai tour where he is using a custom shop sig model. he plays with a pick and normally digs in quite hard to achieve his sound. i believe i read once he boosts the 2kHz to get a click sound.

What is 2kHz on a graphical equalizer.
