According to this article in Bass Player, he uses Fender 7250 45-105 Nickel Rounds.
SUPER BASS MAN With their slab ash bodies, 1955- era arm contours, and classic 1951-shape pickguards, Mike Dirnt’s Fender and Squier signature basses are inspired by the original ’51 Precision Bass, as well as classic ’50s and ’60s colors. The Fender Dirnt bass has a rosewood fingerboard, Custom Vintage 1959 PBass pickup, Leo Quan Badass Bass II bridge, vintage-style ’70s Fender stamped opengear tuning keys, and a thick, C-shaped maple neck modeled after Mike’s ’69 P-Bass. His signature-model Squier P-Bass, meanwhile, features an agathis body, a standard P-Bass pickup, standard 4-saddle chrome bridge, and a thick, C-shape maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. All of Dirnt’s basses, as well as his ’69 P-Bass (“Stella”) and ’71 P-Bass (“the Weapon”), are strung with Fender Super 7250 roundwounds gauged .045–.105. His collection also includes a Höfner, a black 1982 Gibson Victory bass, a ’65 candy-apple red Jazz Bass, and an Olympic white ’62 P-Bass that “sounds like a Steinway.”
How do you know that?also i thought back in the day he used rotosound during his Gibson playing days. Earlier ball Cobalts round wounds are great strings. I used them for a while before I started using DR high beams

I came across it a few weeks back and there was a picture of him and it had an Ernie Ball tweet saying welcome to the family.
Ernie Ball website does say Green Day though. Not sure.
I’m in a Green Day tribute band. Don’t waste your time on the Fender strings. Go with the Slinky Cobalts. I tried both today at band practice. The Slinky’s are more defined and ring out better. Real “crisp”. You’ll love em. I gotta go back and buy another pack to I get both basses using them.
I was recently in A GNR tribute band. Duff is one of my bigger influences and favorites. Tommy Stinson is my ALL TIME FAVORITE! My point is, just because you’re in a tribute, it doesn’t mean you have to copy everything they do. Duff used Rotosound and Tommy used DR High beams. I used EB super slinky’s. Duff uses GK and Fender,Tommy uses Ampeg and SWR 810 cabs as well. I didn’t choose to use a chorus effect cause I hate effect pedals when it comes to bass. I went more with that gritty,growl grind/overdriven tone which sounded great. I took the Tommy Stinson Approach. When it comes to tributes and even cover bands I like to kind of adopt the song and while sticking to the roots of the song I like to make it my own as well.
