good call, bro, its pretty sweet lookin' and i'd hate to think what would happen if it fell into enemy hands. ;)

a nice bridge change and maybe even pickup change should do wonders for ya. i'd love to drop in a sadowsky preamp into mine, but i need that sweepable midrange for that low mid punch. Roger pllleeezzz, make one with one!!!

it had the custom duncan single coils and bart ntmb. i hated the way that thing sounded. there's no accounting for taste though. the guy i sold it to liked it so much he sent me a box of gourmet coffee out of appreciation.

ive heard basses with the bart ntmb and loved them and other basses where ive hated the sound. mtd's sound fab of course as well as a fodera nyc empire i played that didnt have the mid control wired up even though it was a ntmb in there. and then there's lakland and lull where i think they sound horrible.

I second the fact that the sound of some basses with Bartolini electronics really s**k like my Lakland 55-94 and the Lull of course. On the other hand, I also have a Lakland Joe Osborn USA with Bartolini pups and electronics and that particular bass is a real tonemonster :confused: What's the secret? First let me find out how it sounds after installing the other bridge and electronics. Other suggestions on pick-ups besides Sadowsky's?

I've got a Sadowsky Vintage 4 and a Lull Vintage 4 with Fralins, the Bart preamp and passive tone control. I really like the Lull bass, but I hear what you're saying. It is very "snappy"--maybe it's because of the Aluminum bridge. That said, the Bart preamp is "OK" by my taste, it does a fine job boosting the lows. I use to the tone control to cut the highs as well. It's pretty flexible.

I went ahead and bought the Sadowsky pedal/DI box and sometimes use it with the Lull (with the Bart shut off). The tone through the Sadowsky preamp definetly sounds more natural and rounder to my ears, but still nothing like my Sadowsky Vintage 4.

I think you'll like the results you'll get from the Sadowsky preamp and the new bridge. I'm digging the Fralins. I probably would have gone the same route as you, but I might still sell the Lull down the road to help fund my next Sadowsky.
