Im 15 and Im really gettin into miles. Ive always liked Jazz and liked miles but im REALLY gettin into miles' funky side now. Im wondering what albums you would suggest. Im looking at getting Tribute to JAck Johnson , Cellar Door Sessions, Live-Evil , on the corner.Any others? Michael Henderson is the man as far as Im concerned.

ESP and Sorcerer, 2 of the best albums ever!!! check out Ron Carter's lines on Prince of Darkness, he walks in 1/2 note triplets over 4/4 bebop for a lot of the time, incredible........Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, SUPERB!!!!

I like Miles' earlier periods. 2 of my faves are "Relaxin' With The Miles Davis Quintet and Cannonball Adderly's "Somethin' Else".

I like his early stuff too, especially the more textured, layered stuff. I'm a big fan of "Birth of the Cool" and "Sketches of Spain"

On the Corner is a must have from that period and also consider Get Up With It not as cohesive an album but some great long groove sections courtesy of Henderson and Al Foster with a track with Billy Cobham and another with Bernard Purdie.

The quintet(+the lost quintet w. Holland, Corea and DeJohnette) fooled around with funk before transforming into the larger 'Bitches Brew groups'. I think 'Miles In the Sky' and 'Filles De Kilimanjaro' are great for this 'best of both worlds' stuff. There's a hint of it on 'Water Babies' too. But yeah, my personal fave Miles is the Live/Evil band!

I'm with you in your admiration of Michael Henderson's bass playing.

I like the "Jungle Funk" band that he had just before he retired. The live albums Aghartha and Pangea are hair-raising. Henderson and Al Foster really lock in, and Pete Cosey plays some amazing guitar.

Also check out Panthalassa, a set of remixes of Miles' recordings from that period.

I also like the band he had just after he un-retired. We Want Miles features the rhythm section of Marcus Miller and Al Foster.

some kind of blue is more relaxed for the most part but it's stilll a good buy
