i love my 2001 Agave Blue fretless Jazz,the girl is just the shiznitz hooked to my Peavey Combo 300,pedal or 2 in between i can do a TON of tones with HER,love HER,it's all great good fun all that,,
but
,i also have a head with mucho clean clear power and 4x10 cab(looking to add to that of course),,my P bass is just like MADE for delivering the thump(on that rig)no pedals needed/wanted, i can `open it up' get a clean tone every fret(i just love it)
so,it has to be the PuP's,,P is an `89 J is an `01,i realise i can't nec. compare a P to a J however i feel i'm lacking in the J PuP department so,,,,
would a reasonable upgrade be US PuPs?(is their a dif.?),,,
i'm not looking for`boomy' pups,i play all sorts of music/tones i'm just stunned that my J is relagated to my `combo' and pedals while my P is the`gig rig',hey it aint bad! life IS good
(but,EQ'ing the J on the head rig it just isn't THERE like the P)>?
EDIT>also,i'd love a fretted J and feel that's holding me back on SOME tones,but it's like somebody switched the `10DB pad' when i plug in the P
