MIM P-bass or Blacktop Precision?

I'm pretty set on getting one of these two:

Now I'm pretty sure I should go for the MIM based on the kind of music I like playing...mainly Blink 182, other punk rock, and hard rock/metal.

But I really LOVE LOVE LOVE the way the Blacktop looks, and its a little cheaper.

Should I just man up and get the MIM since it has the precision pickups? Since most of the music I play, the real bassists used P-basses with precision pickups?

Does it make no sense for me to get a bass without precision pickups, like the Blacktop?

Or should i just say screw it, get the Blacktop because its looks really turns me on and it's a little cheaper?

I've been stuck thinking about these two for a while and i just can't decide.

Keep in mind i'm asking for your opinion for which I should get, not which you like more

Well, obviously the play em both and figure it out thing comes into consideration. Looks alone don't cut it.

If you want/need a precision tone, you'll want that split coil pickup. The Blacktop jazz might be worth looking into, and the Squier Classic Vibe p basses have a pretty good rep around here, with most liking them more than the MiM basses atm.

If it were me (and it's not) I would be looking at the CV p basses. Bang for buck, man. That's what I look for.

What's wrong with humbuckers for hard rock/metal? I didn't see it in the bass rule book that you have to have a split P to play punk or Blink 182. I play a variety of music from classic rock to P&W on an active LTD and Peavey and the bass police aren't after me. Try that Blacktop and rock it!

Theyre both nice, but have very different sounds. The Blacktop Jazz is nice too, if you really want P pickups and to save some money
