MIM serial numbers?

Anybody know how to "decode" the serial numbers on a MIM Jazz bass. Im considering getting one but want to be sure I get a recently made one since they made the improvements (I believe early 1997 -present).

What part represents the year/month made?

the way it starts....if starts like this, its:

MZ7 (Mexico, 07 - 2007)

MN7 (Mexico, 97 - 1997)

that applies for them all. (im pretty sure)
