Mineral Oil really does clean strings!

YAY Pressurewounds!!
Just want to second (or third) the positive reviews for PressureWounds. A million thanks to whoever here got me to try them - I am SO impressed, and I am a string junkie. Just put a set on an Ibanez active 5-er and they blew me away with the richness and evenness of the sound. Bright and full without the finger noise of rounds.

For years I used to use very little 3 in 1 oil on a rag to wipe strings. I used to use a drop on my fretting fingers. Really extended the life of the strings & made them easier to play.

When I just started playing, there was an incredible local band with a killer bassist. He used a small amount of Vick’s Vaporub on his fingertips.

I’m also a complete freak about Pressurewounds. And I have no idea why I waited so long to try a set. It was the PWs “Tangy not Twangy” thread started by TBer Linnin that got me interested in trying out a set. I’m really happy I tried them.

Unless you have fretless bass with round wounds ( which Jaco had?). The frets bend and misshape the strings. Its just waste of money to clean or boil strings. I tried it and the strings were prone to break . Metal doesnt like to stretch back and forth. Just basic metallurgy.
