Mini Rigs of Doom Four

These are all relatively mini. Mrs DD is out of town, so I'm doing a mini shootout in the basement, shaking the concrete walls.

The Berg is a 3x10 - one driver is in the back.

Can you clarify the model of the Berg cab?! Wanna read a bit more on this one. Lol

It's the HG310 which is touted as being great for acoustic instruments and fretless bass, but I think the marketing material sells it short for conventional use with fretted electric bass. I love the cab. There is no other 310 on the market that comes close in terms of size and weight. Tone is awesome too. Just ask @tombowlus . The standard color is berg-undy :-) but they happened to be doing a new production run when I ordered, so they were able to make me one in black. For me it blends with other gear better and it also makes the rear driver a little stealthy...which reminds me I should post a rear view.

Pretty amazing he's made the 310 weigh less than the ae210 and very close to the hdn210.

I think it has magic fairy dust inside.

The rear driver thing makes me wonder if they could do a 410 in a similar fashion (two front and two rear drivers) for a few pounds more. Then it could be 8 ohms and would more easily pair with a second cab (since any amp can handle 4 ohms but not all can handle 3). Imagine an 8x10 split into two cabs that can each be carried in one hand!

What are these beautiful basses?? drool
I bet the Noble sounds great through either rig.. love mine

The basses are self made Warmoths. Thanks for asking. Here's a closer look.

I haven't tried the Noble through the GK since it has its own 3 tube preamp but should give it a try.

I am looking for a mini rig of doom. I have a little TC Electronics BG250-112, but it always sounds like the cabinet is going to burst apart. I push it pretty good during a night. I have just looked through 60+ pages of posts.. Any one want to consider some recommendations for me? The Avitar and Berg's look good. I need a good small foot print and I would love to stick with the all in one trip idea. Best for my newest gig situation.

D. Lakin JO in a Mono on my back with Tick attached and Nano inside, bass stand strapped to the Mono.
Fearless F210 in one hand, Mesa D800 in the other... one trip...
Never need, or want more. Louder than it looks, way louder.

All of the MRODs would be small footprint and one trip by definition. I guess some basic questions are:
What kind of frequency response do you need? 5-string or lower? Are you looking for a vintage-sounding cab or flat frequency response? If you're a slap player, you would prefer a different sound than a dub or reggae player.
How much sound do you need? This is not only watts, this is also speaker sensitivity and dispersion. Are you playing with FOH support or just stage volume? How big a room?
What features do you need? Some smaller heads don't have effects loops, multiple channels.
Tube or solid state sound? You won't get an all-tube MROD but you can get a tube or tubey preamp.
How much do you want to spend? There's a big range.

5 string. Modern tone/flat, finger style only, no slap/pop, 300w is enough for this project, more is fine, usually FOH support, but band is loud on stage, rooms upwards of 250 people. No effects, No pedals, amp/bass only. Solid state only. Combo or micro head/cab. I currently have a TC Electronics BG250-112. The amp is good, but the cabinet just cannot handle to low B or extended length volume playing. I am a gear snob. No particle board cabs is most important though. Used is best. Budget I would like under $300 or so, but have been known to drop much much more if me likey

View attachment 959626 Not sure if this qualifies as a mini-rig but next to my other rig (Acoustic 370 / 106) it's small. perfect for small venue gigs. '71 Acosutic 150 head + '73 Kasino Natural (1-15).
Those 150's are damn loud. I have a 150 with a 6x10 Acoustic closed back cab with no porting. More a mid-sized rig but still enough for a lot of gigs. The head can be pared with any cab so small cabs are fine too.
