Thinking about building up a 10 to 15-watt single ended KT100 bass head for some easy over-driving.

 I understand the concept of low powered amps in a high-end-super-efficient audiophile stereo system, but why for bass? It seems counterproductive to me... However, I'm keeping and open mind and I am looking forward to talking and checking the amp(s) out.

You are correct, it is a bit counter productive. It is only for practicing, but it allows the cranked sound of an overdriven tube amps (like an SVT) without having to deal with the 300 watts of deafness that comes along with it. You might be suprised how loud a small tube amp with a single efficient speaker can get.

I use mine only for practice. It seems fine with a 2 15 Fender cab. However the guitarist really likes it too so I had to give him a 50's Fender twin clone (5881 PP) I built (all octal). That is a nice 15 watt guitar amp.
