Though relatively few in numbers, I'd like to thank rumbl for securing the space at McNally Smith and hosting for a few hours this afternoon. He even gave us a tour of the place and it's recording rooms and all. A very nice facility indeed.
I liked that the meeting place was readily media accessible. (interwebz!) I was the first person there and we looked up some cool stuff on YouTube. (thanks for showing me some Jonas Hellborg - now I'm going to have to seriously look up more of him!) It was on a large LCD tv and a good sound system. I think this kind of capability would be cool for GTG's. Not to diminish the playing and interaction, but it's cool for "do you know this player? Have you heard this effect? Have you...etc etc."
Also - the home-made Roctal bass amp was quite the thing to behold! It rocked the room very nicely and Scott even switched out various tubes in it to show how each different one changed the sound. That doesn't happen often I'm sure!
Rumbl's Fender amp and cab were way cool. The story on how he refurb'd the whole thing and to see it was nice. It was a 1x15 cab, but it LOOKS like an 18 with how it's ported. It has all kinds of good sounds.
Anway, I've been a registered member here for a long time, and subscribed to this thread not long after it first started, but I never made a GTG. Me = Lame. Whatever comes up next, I'll be sure to meet up with all of you.
