Mistakes on recordings

I just noticed something I never did before in the song House of the Rising Sun, which I needed to learn for a gig tomorrow night.

So I thought I'd start a thread about recorded mistakes . Was quite common back before the digital age. I'm sure they're hard to find now.

Anyhow... I'm not even sure if this is a mistake, or intentional. You tell me. And then post your favorite recorded mistakes

exactly 2:17 (but start before to hear it) - mistake, or on purpose.... ???



I'm amazed at how I could hear a song 1000x and never before notice something like that.

One of my favorite flubs is Paul McCartney in If I Fell. Don't feel like looking for it now though, cuz I know most versions available are fixed. On one of the original "was in vain" - he totally chokes the "vain". Pretty obvious, and pretty bad, but fixed by modern technology.

I always seem to hear mistakes and things in drum parts, the most famous is on Steely Dan's "Aja". The Gadd makes a rim click at one point that would normally be a track killer for the guys but they let it ride and we have one of the best drum performances ever!

My other favorite is on an ELP tune that I will need to look up. At the beginning you hear Carl Palmer running people out of the drum room, he begins the drum intro and there is a rim click and he quietly says "sh!t" and starts the intro over, on the Lp you never heard that but in the digital age there is it.

I searched for a fair amount of time for the flub on If I Fell, and couldn't find it. Did find it in song facts, so I know I'm not nuts. Would love if anyone else can find it.

I'd also still like to know if yas think that's intentional, or a flub, in Rising Sun. Also like to know if any of you have ever noticed it before.

There's a mistake on "The First Cut Is The Deepest" by Cat Stevens (on the Cat Stevens version).

At 1:40 into the song the electric guitar starts a little lead lick and flubs it- listen close! I never heard it until my dad pointed it out.

I also seem to recall that the piano note at the beginning of "Roxanne" by The Police was an accident. Sting accidentally leaned on the piano keys and you can actually hear him chuckle in the intro after the piano sounds off.

a couple of vocal flubs by Dylan on Blonde on Blonde:

At around 2:20 of "I Want You" he says "uh" before "because time was on his side."

Then at around 2:42 of Stuck Inside of Mobile etc. " when I..he built a fire on main st and shot it full of holes.'

then there's Queen Jane Approximately where half the band is out of tune.

There are mistakes and there are notes one means to play that are wrong. Not sure which one that was.

My surmise is they let it stand rather than tamper with that killer organ break that just preceded it.

Speaking of Eric Burdon & The Animals, there's a big vocal flub in Sky Pilot.

Around 1:50 the line is "He'll stay behind". But he sings "He stale behind"

If you listen to guitar solos you can find mistakes all over the place. The solo in Led Zeppelin's Heartbreaker comes to mind. It's kind of sloppy sounding by post-80s standards but it's still glorious.

Funny I never had any trouble hearing that plain as day on the LP, but then maybe I play things loud.

"All in Love is Fair" by Stevie Wonder. The bass at 22 seconds is late.

In Metallica's cover over Blitzkreig you hear Lars at the end of the track say, "I ****ed up in one place" but I could never hear where it happened.

Can anyone help?
