Looks like an old carl thompson to me. Deffinantly not an alembic. Alembic may have been the inspiration however.

Its likely a personal project someone did and liked aspects of both CT and Alembic.

  5. I would lean more towards a Carl Thompson.

  6. I don't think either makers would pass up putting their signature logos on a bass.

Taht's not a CT. Carl's only ever used two different headstock shapes, and that ain't one of them.

Maybe an old Moonstone? I know I've seen that headstock some where...

I have owned my Hyak for many years... I even have literature and it is scanned in so I can email it to you (shared with BunnyBass years ago). PM me and send an email address and I would gladly send you copies of the literature.

Included is one of five pieces of literature that I have to share.

I was thinking a one off alembic. Maybe that guy was making basses after hours using alembic's equipment. Looks like Alembic electronics. I remember an interview with Entwhistle where he said he was getting tired of all the external preamps, power supplies stc...I think thats when he packed in boris.
