mixed bag repertoire question

Hi all,

In the process of learning material.for.my new cover band. The main common thread on the song selections is that they all have a good groove. The song selection ranges from the 80s, current, 60s, blues, some electronic ish. Styles are funk, blues, groovy rock, rnb, hip hop based. We have right now about 1 set of 80s stuff. Rest is all over the place. So....im curious what you suggest trying set list wise.....keep them mixed? Or make sets using same decade or play similar style songs back to back?

Thanks!

It depends on what the goal of your band is. If you want good crowds, and you want them to stay as long as possible, while drinking and dancing, you need dance tunes. Disco, Funk, R&B, upbeat 80's and 90's stuff, and pretty much anything in the last 10 years that women like.

Drop the blues.
