Mixer/PA help?

o_O said:
My speakers are 8 ohm, should be fine.

Now I have a problem with my unreasonable guitarist, he wants to get that portable Fender Passport 150 (or P150, idk), bcause he doesn't want to carry all the crap around and he thinks 150 watts will be sufficient. And its $600! I guess now money's not a problem because he's paying for it all...
If he decides to get that one, I'll just buy a sufficient amp head. In the meantime, I'll try to convince him.

I had a couple of those but they couldn't stand up to the abuse rental gear gets. The plastic broke were the speakers attached to the mixer/amp section and we ended up haveing to haul everything seperate anyway. They were ok. We used them a lot for speaking engagements and seminars in small areas. The sound quality of the speakers weren't the best for music.

We keep it simple

The PA is 350w per side on each side we have a 12 and a 15 daisy chained.

The vocals and guitars run through the PA.

I run a 400w Bass Rig 4x10 with a 1x15 stand alone (not running through the PA)

Drummer needs no amps!

And it rocks out well!!!

Am I the only one who is wondering, "Why doesn't this guy just buy a real honest to goodness bass amp and be done with it?"

Seriously, a nice 300W combo amp would keep up just fine with the guitarist and you could just run vocals through the main PA. I've never been particularly happy running direct into the PA.

Nearly every amp company makes some sort of 2x10, 1x12, or 1x15 combo in the sub $750 range. A Nice Fender Pro 250/210 or an Ampeg combo would be most excellent.

Yea, after all this I'm just thinking about getting a bass amp. It's all too much trouble, let the guitarist do what he wants. I guess I'll get a amp head and run the subwoofer through it.
