MLB 2024

View attachment 5392790 In May of 1969, Peter Cetera and three other members of the rock band Chicago (then known as The Chicago Transit Authority) were at Dodger Stadium for a game between the Dodgers and the Cubs.

The Cubs won the ballgame 7-0, and at some point four disgruntled Dodgers fans - U.S. Marines no less - decided to take out their angst on Cetera, who was unabashedly celebrating. They broke Cetera's jaw in three places sending him to intensive care.

Fast forward to later that summer, with Cetera's jaw still wired shut, the band was slated to record the song "25 or 6 to 4." It couldn't wait, and only Cetera could pull off the vocal. He recorded "25 or 6 to 4" - one of the great songs on the era - through gritted teeth. You may have heard this song hundreds of times and never known. But if you listen closely you can hear the words getting a little slurry at times. Surprisingly little, considering. But noticeable, given that Cetera's vocals are normally very clean.

Anyway, if you like that song just how it is, you can thank four crabby Dodgers fans and Peter Cetera for his unflinching support for the Cubs.

Jeez Bent. Getting two digs in in one day?

And @slobake piling on too.

Oh well.

I have a feeling that there will be union claims of collusion soon. The big free agents are getting their money, but lots of good players are going unsigned, or signing for less than expected.

Whether it is the owners, or perhaps Scott Boras having eyes that don't fit in their sockets, I don't know, but this will come up before the end of this year, I am guessing.
It was only a matter of time before Boras priced his players out of the market.

I’ve suffered enough at the hands of the Rookies. The Arenado scandal was the last straw. I’ll listen to their games when on

Been a Red Sox fan for a long time, back to when Clemens pitched there
I was a Reds fan back in the 1970s, then was in New York in the 1980s and rooted for the Mets. Moving to Seattle meant learning a whole new league. With no ancient tribal loyalties, rooting for the Mariners came pretty easy. Plus sitting near a fan who could yell "Pressley you bum!" repeatedly at high volume in the near empty Kingdome the first game I went to see. The Mariners won somehow, and I was hooked.

Like the man in the cheezy commercials used to say "But wait, there's more." It appears 4.5 million dollars was transferred from Ohtani's bank account to a bookie in Orange County. At first it was said Ohani did this to help out his interpreter who had a huge gambling debt. Then, the story changed and now it is being said that Ohtani's interpreter stole the money. What is going on here?
