The Mariners lost 10 of their first 11. Now they are beginning to win games. They better not be peaking too soon.

You sound almost crazy enough to be a Mariners fan. Except that the Dodgers will choke. That part has been written in stone somewhere.I'm optimistic about the SFGiants. Yep, I bleed orange and black (handy on halloween). They have tightened up their defense and have a bunch of young arms down in the minors. Won't be a huge HR team but that has been their game since the Bonds era. When they win it is with good pitching and defense, timely hitting and good base running. Looking forward to watching Jung Ho Lee, Matt Chapman and Kyle Harrison. Bailey is getting better and better behind the plate hopefully he can get better with his bat. We also have Tom Murphy who adds some pop if he can stay healthy and Soler at DH. Webb hasn't looked great this spring but I am confident he will come around and Doval is a great closer.
Bob Melvin is talking about less platooning this season and hopefully no more bullpen games.
Going to be rough first half waiting for Cobb and Robbie Ray. Hopefully Ray will return to form. There is also the Dodgers who are looming large.
I believe the Giants have enough to win a wild card spot and after that, who knows? Will the Dodgers choke again in post season?![]()
The Giants winning the WS in 2010 when everyone wrote them off changed my paradigm on how I view baseball. Then the Giants won the WS two more times with the same system. Great home grown pitching, good defense and solid all around ball. No big sluggers but a lot of good ball players. Of course they did have Bruce Bochy as head coach. You sound almost crazy enough to be a Mariners fan. Except that the Dodgers will choke. That part has been written in stone somewhere.
I keep expecting the Mariners to do something like that. They haven't rewarded my enduring faith in them. Yet. But this is the year. I just know it. I always just know it this time of year. And it's what makes baseball my favorite sport. The Giants winning the WS in 2010 when everyone wrote them off changed my paradigm on how I view baseball. Wish I could disagree Will. The Rangers coaxed Bochy out of retirement and all he did was win a fourth World Series. The Dodgers stuck with Roberts. And all he did was, well….You sound almost crazy enough to be a Mariners fan. Except that the Dodgers will choke. That part has been written in stone somewhere.

As a Native, all I can do is shake my head!In 2024 I expect the Rockies to cause a minimal number of injuries to the spectators in the ballpark. Anything more than that will be a bonus.
Ah, don't be so hard on the guy. He is a Dodger, so he dodged winning the WS last year. It's in his job title, right?Wish I could disagree Will. The Rangers coaxed Bochy out of retirement and all he did was win a fourth World Series. The Dodgers stuck with Roberts. And all he did was, well….
You’re a funny guy, Bent. But yeah. Take the team with the highest payroll, the best wining percentage over what, the last ten years (?), the best farm system, the most talent (on paper anyway) and win one title in a short 40 game season. And let cheaters get away with stealing calls from you. I wish the dude would just go away. Yet here I am, watching them romp through the Cactus League (like it matters) and hoping this year will be different.Ah, don't be so hard on the guy. When you decide to really hate upon yourself, become a Rockies fan. At least the Dodgers make it somewhereYou’re a funny guy, Bent. But yeah. I really need to watch that again. There's one or two potential All-Stars in there....

I really need to watch that again.
I grew up in San Diego. When I started falling in love with baseball at age 5, the Dodgers won the Series. Then in ‘65 and ‘66. The Pads were in the old Pacific Coast League. Dad took us to games, but it wasn’t major league. I’ve been a glutton for punishment and frustration ever since. Not since ‘81 have they lived up to expectations. Tommy willed that ‘88 win. And the win in ‘20 doesn’t really count. I will always be a Dodger fan. When you decide to really hate upon yourself, become a Rockies fan. At least the Dodgers make it somewhere
Strange side note, my dad was born in a small town in southern Colorado. At the time, Brooklyn had a farm team here. Up until the Rockies came about, I was a big Dodger fan also. Don’t root for either of them now, go Sox! Go Cards?

Or become a Mariners fan. That is like being a Cubs fan, or was. Except no goat, no Bartleman, no karmic things to bemoan. Just flashes of almost, punctuating a sea of nope. When you decide to really hate upon yourself, become a Rockies fan. At least the Dodgers make it somewhere

But this is their year to finally get there. Even if they are looking awful so far in the Cactus League.
They did beat the Dodgers. So as you often sat, “there’s that.”Or become a Mariners fan. That is like being a Cubs fan, or was. Except no goat, no Bartleman, no karmic things to bemoan. Just flashes of almost, punctuating a sea of nope.
