MLB 2024

For what they are paying him, he better be a little more than pretty good. That much money for a DH is insane. I can't see him pitching again much.
I won’t be shocked if he’s pitching again eventually. Maybe next year? It’s not an easy thing to do of course, but it’s hard to bet against him given what he’s already accomplished thus far.

Yes, but for how long? His elbow is toast. He is on his second Tommy John. That won't end well if he really lets it rip.

Man, I'd be pissed if I signed with the Dodgers, of all teams, and actually had to take a pay cut. The payroll is already like a billion, what's a little more?:D
Yep. But the games they are playing with tax loopholes will come back to bite them. So we’ll see. I just hope they come to their senses and get a real manager. They should have four or five WS titles over the last ten years. But no. Only one. In the Covid shortened forty game season.

Roberts needs to be gone. Here’s hoping.

As I mentioned above somewhere, they don’t care if they only get a couple of seasons of him as a pitcher. They believe he is Babe Ruth incarnated. And he may well be. They expect at least 500 homers over the next ten years. I’m not betting against him doing it.

Yeah, I don’t really have the answers, but he’s a unicorn in baseball. If anyone is going to find a way, it is Ohtani. I assume he still wants to pitch. I think he’s talented enough as a pitcher to be able to get by with reduced velo, if that’s the case after his second TJ surgery.

I’m quite enjoying Roberts complete and total ineptitude as a manager being a former dodger fan. They definitely could have 3 more WS wins since his tenure started. What do you do?

I’ll root for my floppy Cards!

I don't think "our" Cards have a hope in hell until there are some serious changes in the front office and/or ownership.

Unfortunately I have to agree. And it makes me very, very sad. I want to make that 6 hour drive again to see a World Series game like I did in 2011. And I quote "We will see you tommmaaaaaarrrrroooooo night!!!!"

I sure hope the Mariners are saving their wins for the regular season. They have been awful so far this spring. Not that I recognize most of the names they are trotting out. I guess they are getting prospects some playing time. The regulars need to be in game shape for the opener, though. It seems a little odd so far.

I love watching spring training, but the outcomes mean nothing. The good players are concerned with working on specific issues, not results (Sparky Lyle would never throw anything but fastballs, just to strengthen his arm), and those who ARE focused on results likely won't be in uniform by Opening Day.

Oh wow! Only the greatest game in post season history. (Yeah, I'm biased but still.)
It was an amazing night. It was 30 something degrees and the wind was blowing. I had on everything I had brought plus a "Rally Squirrel" sweatshirt that I bought there. I was three rows from the top concourse right at the 3rd base foul pole. I gave $600 for the seat! My wife would have killed me and I didn't tell her how much I paid for years. I got online searching for a ticket for the next night but SRO were starting at $1200. I wanted to stay married so I went home.

Well, gosh. They blew it. They won a game last night. They should have saved it for September. Samad Taylor had a good night last night. He's listed as a second baseman, but he was playing left field. The Mariners seem to be hitting a bit this spring. They just aren't pitching yet. They have until March 28 to figure it out.

I'm optimistic about the SFGiants. Yep, I bleed orange and black (handy on halloween). They have tightened up their defense and have a bunch of young arms down in the minors. Won't be a huge HR team but that has been their game since the Bonds era. When they win it is with good pitching and defense, timely hitting and good base running. Looking forward to watching Jung Ho Lee, Matt Chapman and Kyle Harrison. Bailey is getting better and better behind the plate hopefully he can get better with his bat. We also have Tom Murphy who adds some pop if he can stay healthy and Soler at DH. Webb hasn't looked great this spring but I am confident he will come around and Doval is a great closer.
Bob Melvin is talking about less platooning this season and hopefully no more bullpen games.
Going to be rough first half waiting for Cobb and Robbie Ray. Hopefully Ray will return to form. There is also the Dodgers who are looming large.
I believe the Giants have enough to win a wild card spot and after that, who knows? Will the Dodgers choke again in post season? :D
