MLB 2026

This is starting to feel like a bit of a cursed season for my Blue Jays... Every time I think they're about to turn it around, something ugly happens again. Ugh. Oh well, there are currently only two good teams in the entire AL, so despite the Jays' poor start to the season, one of the Wild Card spots may still be attainable. New York or Tampa looks like they will run off with the division.

Yup, it's a mess. It was gratifying to see the sulking Eric Lauer get DFAed, though. So much optimism going in and then injuries after injuries opened the trap door and pitched the team hellward. Once you dig a hole this deep, you'd have to play like supermen for the rest of the season to end up where you need to be for the post-season. We're just about a quarter of a way through a long season and 18-23. To end up with 94 wins as in 2025, the Blue Jays would need to win 76 games out of the remaining 121 or a 0.63 win rate. That's not impossible by any means, but their season-long win rate last year was 0.58. Hard to see them adding 5 points to that rate over what time's left.

I don't mind seeing Lauer gone either. The team could tolerate the silliness if he had at least pitched well. But his starts were not good. Patrick Corbin has been better, and I expected next to nothing from that signing! Sounds like Berrios has hit a setback in his return from injury. And Bieber isn't exactly super close yet either, even if things go smoothly for him rehabbing and building back up. The rotation could really use a boost.

At least Valenzuela has been a bit of an interesting discovery while Kirk's been injured. That's a bright spot early on.

I'm also wishing for Vladdy to find his power again sometime soon. It's great that he's hitting for average and limiting the strikeouts, but he's not supposed to be Tony Gwynn 😅 (No disrespect to Gwynn! Vlad just needs to produce more HRs)

After this rocky start, I'll be happy if the team can finish the season with 85-90 wins. Probably has to be closer to the 90 ballpark to feel good about a Wild Card spot. We'll see. It won't be easy.

Agree completely on Valenzuela and the other points. That kid is really showing big league poise and ability. If and when Kirk returns (God willing, please) it's going to be a tough situation for Heineman. It's funny that whenever they show him in the dugout he's got a drink of some sort in his hand and looks like he's a couple of sheets to the wind. :smug:

The Jays are now 0-5 vs. Tampa so far this season, outscored 27-15 so far. I have L #6 pencilled onto the schedule for tonight... 😧 Here's hoping Cease pitches well and they give him some good run support!

Last season in June and July, the Jays were 16-10 and 18-18 respectively. A month or two like that this summer would be really nice to turn the team around. Hard to say how doable that is this year, although I can hope.

No kidding. The whole AL is a bunch of stumble bums so far this season. I don't remember a season with such a widespread sprinkling of meh.

The Blue Jays have won a baseball game against the Rays! Cease gave the team a strong start. Varsho hit a grand slam to end it in the 10th inning. I like that.
I (Rays fan) didn't. We/they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. :banghead: Oh, well-still ahead of the Yankees.:hyper:
