MLB 2026

Another series win in the books for my Blue Jays over the weekend. They did it in (IMHO) the most unsatisfactory fashion: Win the first two games and lose the last one. But no matter which way you slice it, they got 2 outta 3. Bring on the Marlins!
The Marlins-who I sorta root for (native Miamian)-are masters of inconsistency.

So let’s talk about a few things not getting mentioned:

1) Cubs went straight up and now are going straight down, losing 8

2) Nick Kurtz, 48 consecutive games on base
Indeed.

Cubs and A's are my favorite teams... but did not expect to see the A's doing so well nor the Cubs so inconsistent.

Kurtz is quietly making a strong career start...well below the radar.

The Mets haven't sucked this bad since the late 1970s. At least then, my only expectation was wondering if they would finish fifth and the Expos sixth, or the other way around.
As a person who isn't super familiar with the whole Mets roster, there are quite a few unexpected/unknown names to me in the "Top 12 Players" section on the Mets' Baseball Reference page (ranked by BBref WAR). Soto, Peralta, and Clay Holmes all make sense. I suppose I've heard of Brett Baty before. After that, it's a lot of "Who?" Some guys I'd expect to maybe make that list - Bo, Semien, Lindor, some of the pitchers - don't quite make the cut. At least Lindor's WAR isn't a negative number. Some of these other guys haven't done much so far this season, at least as far as WAR is concerned. It's obviously not a perfect stat by any means. But with Bo and Semien, for example, their batting lines aren't looking super hot so far.

The Mariners are killing me. They lose a series to the Royals, but they are in the abysmal AL West, which means they are right near first place if they get their thumbs out. If they sweep the A's, they are atop the worst division in baseball. I don't know whether to watch or shut it out and wait for football.

Stupid Mariners.
