MM S.U.B. vs SMBB Ray34

Hey what's up.

I recently just play a SBMM at the GC near me, I thought it sounded great, slightly smaller than a normal ray though. I tone was very treble-y IMO, but overall it played and sounded like a Ray.

Now the whole point of this is that I have never played NOR ever even touched a S.U.B... ever. I have seen one, but I was not allowed to play it because of a grouchy employee stating it was too expensive. BS.

Anyways, I tried the search bar (nada) and I just wanted to know your comparison of the S.U.B. to the SBMM Ray34. I recently found one in great condition very very cheap and I'm looking into buying it. ALSO, I am not one to love the 3 band eq on the SBMM's, I am however a fan of the 2b eq on the S.U.B., I have played a 92' Ray that was a 2 band and loved it, unfortunatey for it's condition I was unable to purchase it.

Any Pros/Cons Compares/Contrasts?

I have played a sub and in my opinion there very well rounded have a ton of tone possibilities so i say sub

I had a Sub for a couple of months this year but sold it for a Ray34 a week or so ago. Bad move.
The Sub had a better tone (for me) and the neck felt nicer. I dont know the dimensions etc but im struggling a bit with my Ray34 where as i felt the Sub to be almost perfect, outside of my fav Jazz style of necks.

Tone wise, yes, the Ray34 is brighter. I get a lot more string noise but im not too worried about that. It does seem to have a more open tone to my ears and i find i can get more tones out of it. The Sub seemed closer to my P. Its low end was thicker and i guess it had a flatter tone but again, a very nice tone.

The reason i got rid of my Sub was i didnt like the finish on the neck, plus i figured a Ray34 would be a nicer instrument. It is, its just that is different and while i really do like it i think i prefer the Sub for playability and tone. Im more a P guy and play mostly with a pick.
