Double Bass Modacity - anyone use this app for practice?

Modacity is a paid app that is a tool for practicing. It’s about $7 a month. Anyone here use it or have opinions on Modacity? How about alternatives to Modacity?

I practice a lot and have no problem with schedules, motivation or what I should be working on. However, my mind is open to an app that will be useful. If I pay for an app it must be really worthwhile as what I’m doing is constructive as is.

Jason Heath has a short video ‘Struggles with Practicing’ where he ends up saying Modacity has made a big dif for him in his practice routine. The problem I have with Heath is that he often seems to be selling something, and it’s as if he is selling Modacity.

Any comments? Anyone love this app?

I have been using this app for about a year now. I think it is a really great app and if nothing else just helps with organization and being able to record yourself right in the app and hear it back instantly, and not have to worry about deleting a bunch of voice memos or something. Also the timers are really nice, so when you have limited time you can stay more true to saying “I’m only going to work on this for 15 mins” lind if thing, which not that you can’t do that with just a stop watch but there is something a little more to it with this app. The notes are great as well, since they can all be in one place, but also specific to the piece you are on, where as before I either had a notebook or note in my phone with just a long list of notes that was much less organized.

My problems with it are.... after a while the sound quality of the recordings are currently so low (they weren’t always) that they are almost useless. Also I have playlist for certain gigs that I just had to manually put in alphabetical order (about 50 songs) and a few days after I did that, they are all random again... for seemingly no reason and there isn’t a way to just “sort” things. I have messaged the developers about this and they have responded quickly but it’s been a few months with no updates so the sound is still bad....

Overall I find it to be very useful but it is not without its flaws. Also I use it maybe a little differently than it was intended to be used (seemly marketed more for classical players) but I still do find it to be a helpful practice aid.
