Modding a DOD FX25B

I like the overall sound of this filter, but it always seems to suck out a lot of volume when I turn it on. Is this something most envelope filters do?

I was thinking about changing the blend knob to a volume boost kind of thing. That way I could at least match the volume of my rig when it's off. For the most part I'm using it for solos anyway, I don't know. How would I go about doing that? What do you guys think? Should I just get a different filter or mod this one? Or something else..Lemme know! Thanks.

By looking at the schematic, I don't see any easy way to give it a volume boost, when it is engaged... It is a bandpass filter, so it removes all the frequencies in the pass-band (but depending on the range pot it can boost those in the passband). You can mod it to a lowpass instead. That might boost the volume, but deceases the "peakyness". Give me a shout, if you want instructions.

Couldn't find any info about modding, so just sold it.
Bought an old Qtron, and it, on the contrary, boosts signal a bit. I think, I'm going to sell it too.

I've always found it pretty necessary to have a compressor next in line with any envelope filter. I have no idea why so few manufacturers don't just incorporate one into the design.

I just use a EQ pedal just set as a boost in front of mine. No rocket science, but it works! Can hit them both at once in one stomp!

When I used one, I used it with a Boss LS-2 so that I could adjust the volume. Simple.

Not all envelopes do that. The micro QTron is the opposite, too loud. Also fixed with the LS-2.

The MXR is ok volume wise, but the DOD is a lot nicer sounding.

I finally settled on Soundblox BEF. Love it.

Anyone notice that if the blend control is all the way to the left it is not a totally clean signal?
