Modding an epiphone EB-0

Greetings everybody!

I've been lurking around these forums for some years, and have decided its time to participate more actively, so here we go:

I will soon be recieving a used EB-0. This bass has its shortcomings, but i still think its a great instrument. I have plans for some modifications. Hopefully someone can chime in with some suggestions, while im waiting for the bass and some parts. Here are my plans (for now)

Replace the stock humbucker with a dimarzio model one (already have this)
Add a second pickup. This will be a single coil placed somewhere around the mythical sweet spot, i need some help in finding out where this is. The pickup will either be a strat-type pickup (have several) or a lipstick pickup. Or maybe a p. Im not sure yet.
Wire it up with a blend knob and master volume.
Build a Bazz Fuss effect (have ordered a kit from fuzzdog) and put this inside the guitar.

Now the way i want to hook this up is so that only one of the pickups is sent to the fuzz, and then both goes to the blend knob. Also I want to be able to select wich pickup goes where. Can this be done with a dpdt switch? How would this be wired?

Also if anyone has some other cool suggestions, shoot!

(the bass will probably be strung with flats. I also play alot with a slide)

Sounds like you're planning on sitting in with Ben Folds Five.

I have a similar bass that's going through a similar heavy re-tread, save for the internal fuzz. Finding pickup "sweet spots" boils down to finding a bass you like, get the same or similar pickup, and locate it based on proximity to open string harmonics. The harmonics don't matter when you're fretting notes, but it's pretty standard practice for production basses to have pickups located under specific harmonics. That's especially helpful if your bass is a different scale length from a target bass sound.

Here's the thread on my mods, maybe some of it will be helpful even though it's mostly about pickguard design. I'll update the thread next month (if the schedule is maintained) with pictures and electronics schematics.

So I've been thinking about the dpdt switch.

Pickups go to terminal 3 & 4
Out to blend/fuzz from 1 & 2
Jumpers from 6 to 1 & 2 to 5

Would this "swap places" of the pickups?

This is the first time I try to figure this out for myself without just copying a drawing that I don't understand
