modding my Squier VM P, new pickups, shielding what do I need to know?

I'd like to mod my Squier Vintage Modified P Bass. The electronics seem simple, but what do I need to know? Any do's and do not's?

I was thinking about getting DiMarzio copper shielding tape and Seymour Duncan SPB-3 quarter-pound pickups.

Should I get new pots also?

are the CTS pots at the top of this page the ones I should get?

should I get a new capacitor, if so which one?

I was reading a post last week that the wiring harness from Bayou cables really improved the sound of his squier and that he has changed his mind about changing the pickup. I just picked up a Squier P and just ordered the harness yesterday.

no what is the obsession with the duncan spb3? Think mark hoppus tone thats really all you can get from it. It doesnt have the growly mids that most p basses have. If you dont have that why even bother with a p bass? if you roll off the tone knob the spb3 sounds awful. If you want a good p bass pickup go with the fender 62 p bass or the nordstrand np4. I have a vm p bass and I put a duncan spb3 I had laying around from another project in and quickly switched back to the stock pickup till i got my nordstrand np4. As for pots cts are the best you can get. get 250k pots, and if you need a capacitor I think p basses use .47 caps. If im wrong im sure someone will correct me
