While a Spector Dimension is definitely considered modern:

1966 P-bass with LaBella Flats and at times foam under the strings <vs> Sterling Ray 25 with very crisp rotosound 66’s.

my oldest ax (vintage? ) is a passive PJ that i've modded a lot over its 15 years with me. i bought it new from an ebay seller in ~2011 --- it doesn't look old, but it has all the "old school" sounds that you'd expect from such a configuration.

my most modern-sounding EB would be my active parts bass (from 2022) with EMGs + audere preamp.

I love all my basses, but every time I play the EHB I'm just floored how light it is, how easily it plays, and how great it sounds. Makes even my 8 lb basses feel like heavy awkward clunkers lol
