Modulus Mob

k nuff said ! spoke to modulus to day and my bass is in the factory being made! meh i swear this waiting thing is worse than torture!

I got an update last week-
the body is done and waiting to be painted with the other velvet finishes. The neck is done and waiting for its satin finish.
The comes hardware and final assembly, and then off to Tony to get my coil taps hotrodded up. :)

Sorry it's taken me so long to post pics (and apologies for the crappy quality of the pics..."Dammit Jim, I'm a bass player, not a photographer!")

This is my Quantum-6 SPX, built for me in 1988 back when "Modulus Graphite Products" was still a small company in San Francisco, when Geoff Gould was still running the company, and long before they'd dreamed up SPi Integrated Neckjoints or wood fingerboards or adjustable trussrods.

Alder body with cocobola top, 35" scale bolt-on graphite neck with phenolic fingerboard, EMG J pickups, EMG BTC tone control, Kahler bridge, Gotoh machines, Dunlop StrapLocks.

Always wondered what a Quantum w/ J's would sound like!

Well, it doesn't really sound like a Jazz Bass! The best word to describe it would be "transparent". Sometimes too transparent; I really have to push the lows, roll off some of the top end, and dial back the front pickup a bit in order to get a real traditional punchy tone. Ordinarily the bass has a very vocal or horn-like sound, especially in the middle register. But unbelievably crisp, clear, and uniform from end to end.
