Modulus Mob

Another update to my story. The neck did have a back bow but he took the truss rod much farther and said it worked just fine. I guess I was being a baby about it. The neck was not actually "warped." A shim was removed because we needed the end of the neck downward and we though he may have to cut the neck pocket ever so slightly deeper but it turned out to be unnecessary. I should have the bass back within the week.

Guys today was the big day. PLEK’d by Keith Roscoe and he did some extra neck work. I’m trying to keep my excitement in check but by all indications this thing is perfect now.
Cool- saw that on fb, i was actually going to ask if it was yours. Hope it works out- by all accounts in the Roscoe thread, the plek works wonders.

the TBX has a rich and full sound with an acoustic quality to it and the Q5 is kind of barky and brittle. I will try and upload some sort of comparison at some point.
i concur. my tbx5 has a 'smoothness' to its tone. not really one word to describe it. running it flat with barts into an aggie obp-3.

my q5 with emg's (running flat) has that mid-bark going for it.

both have coco tops and alder backs.

of course, ymmv. had a tbx5 in the 90's that sounded like a goose honking in a tunnel. that bass had a maple top with very light alder wings and emg's. balanced and played perfectly tho.

With the bass being mathematically “perfect”, I’m wondering if I don’t gel with it. Who knows. I’m going to set with it a little while more and think it over.

Hi guys, I recently celebrated paying off my credit card by putting this dream bass on my credit card. It's a 1991 neck-thru fiver, but is it technically a TBX? Interesting note: it has mandolin fret wire.

Hi guys, me again. Trying to figure out which preamp is in here but not very knowledgeable of such matters. Is it an EMG BTC? Should I assume the pickups are EMG 40DC? The vendor did not provide these details. This is in reference to the 1991 Q5 TBX I posted about above. Cheers!
