Modulus Mob

They didnt have a functional scale. I hope its not a fatty. I can't do heavy basses anymore.

My Quantum 6 weighs 10 pounds, 4.5 ounces and is easy for me (76 years old and 150 pounds) to handle. It is an amazing bass to play.

My G.Gould ggi6 weighs exactly 2 pounds less than the Modulus. Geoff must have filled my bass with helium!

That’s awesome! Unfortunately I have two spots on my spine that will eventually require surgery. Heavy basses, especially those that don’t balance well cause me a lot of pain. Hopefully this one will work for me

I've owned them before but was without one for some time. This one came to me last week. It will stay!

These photos are from a previous ad" TRADED - Modulus Quantum Q6 - 5A Quilt Top - with video!
Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the approximate year of this one? It looks pretty new but I am far from a Modulus expert.

I don't see truss rod access and with that logo, I'll guess 93-97?

It definitely does have a truss rod. The basses with truss rods have a neck that goes against the neck PU. The basses without a truss rod have space between the end of the neck and the neck PU. My bass is a 1999 and has a truss rod.
There were some pre-truss rod ones that had the extended neck heel- this one from the classifieds is a ‘97

This one has a truss rod but has the shorter neck heel (but I’d bet it’s a replacement neck).

I would guess 2000-2003, as it has the newer (2000 and on) logo and the rounder control cavity on the back- mine is an ‘04 and it’s longer than that

this was a ‘00 I owned before (and never should have sold)

1997 was the transition year. some had truss/adjustment rods, others did not.

to add to the confusion (hehehe), modulus (post-geoff gould era) did offer replacement necks w/truss rod with the early 90's, shorter neck heel that didn't extend to the neck pickup. i had one a few years ago. i'm assuming the original owner went to modulus with a neck that 'went south' (lifetime warranty) and they replaced it with an exact replacement (shorter neck heel, rounded edges) but with a truss rod.

If you're concerned about the weight, I put mine on a diet earlier this year. This document shows your potential weight savings with a hardware change:

And please, NOT ALL MODULUS BASSES START OFF AS BOAT ANCHORS!
It seems like folks here expect that. I do not agree with that assessment.
