There are numbers in height millimeters that I'll leave it up to the pros to quote previous posts for but as a generality you want the cover as close to the strings as possible notwithstanding the force that you pluck or strike the strings. In other words you don't want to make abrasive marks on the covers if you can help it. Locate a local guitar Tech to replace the stripped screw. Wouldn't suggest simply replacing it with a larger one. Those of you with EMG pups in your Quantum, what kind of pickup height do you have going on? My neck pickup is quite low and one screw is stripped, so it's staying that way for now, but I can play around with the bridge pickup. I've read that these work best as close to the strings as possible ...

Without digital caliper or proper height adjustment tools you're pretty much left to eyeball it in but unless you have the proper tools and expertise as a lot of us do ( which is a learned ability from trial and error and knowledge gleaned from other sources) I still say find a good local guitar technician that way you can hold him accountable and not yourself if you screw up the screw. I do all regular maintenance on all my instruments but will not endeavor certain mods. Plenty on TalkBass can surely offer better insight. Thanks for that! Is the point of bringing it in to a tech that they would have a matching screw?
Here's where we are now:
It sounds great as is, but I have nothing to compare it to. Of course I'd like the bass is set up optimally.View attachment 3952320
Well I certainly don't have the expertise; I'll take your advice on this one for sure.Without digital caliper or proper height adjustment tools you're pretty much left to eyeball it in but unless you have the proper tools and expertise as a lot of us do ( which is a learned ability from trial and error and knowledge gleaned from other sources) I still say find a good local guitar technician that way you can hold him accountable and not yourself if you screw up the screw. read the manual but it didn't touch on one thing. Here’s the quantum manual, it has a section on pickup height
thanks for the info geoff. will play with the settings a bit more to see what's what. What I remember is using the MBDE in the neck position, and MBCC in bridge. These pickups can be wired a number of ways, but the most useful thing to me was to have the neck pickup switchable. I think it's a triple coil pickup. The switch went from full humbucker to single coil with dummy coil, to parallel hum bucking. I have no idea why the other one is only two-position.
My first Modulus should be here next week!
