The problem is, I'm also super impatient, and have little self control.If you’re super picky, then you’re probably not the person who needs a chipped bass. I’d keep looking if I were you.
I see something shiny, and I got to have it now. Or in this case, something Bass-y.
But in all honesty, my main concern is about damaging or negatively altering the feel of an instrument. I always take super good care of my basses (haven't put a mark in any of my basses in years, and I've flown with them and played them on stage many times), but a couple marks on an instrument isn't a deal breaker for me. My current Modulus I got used with quite a few dings (including a neck chip of a much smaller scale). I just don't want to strip it, and then have it come "unwoven", or splinter, or any other numerous doomsday scenarios.
I'm super hesitant to attempt repairs on my own unless I asked around and get a feel for the process.
It would feel like a massive waste of money and basses for me to go out and drop a couple thousand on a bass just to break it to "fix" something.
