Modulus Mob

Isn't that an aftermarket bridge?

My 1988 Quantum-6 SPX came stock with that same Kahler bridge:

This might be a Quantum 6SP. How wide is the 24th fret?

It's down at my rehearsal studio so I can't measure it right now...but @GeoffGould , you and I went through this extensively over the phone when I was getting ready to order that bass in '88, and I still have a copy of the original order receipt which specifies "SPX". Ironically, it's a super-narrow string spacing compared to almost any contemporary 6-string bass, but at the time I remember you told me that was the widest bolt-on neck Modulus offered. If I'm not mistaken you simply used a Quantum-5 SPX neck with a 6-string nut and an extra tuner hole drilled.

[edit: Serial # is 880673 if that tells you anything.]

Isn't that an aftermarket bridge? I see those from time to time on bases and I can tell just by looking at them whether or not they are installed correctly.

I had one on my 90 Q6 and Peavey TL-6. The bridge on the Peavey was sunk in the body and the modulus was surface mount. I switched out the one on my Q6 to a hipshot and kept the bridge in my Peavey. It seems to work better on the TL-6 mortised into the body. I don't know if it would on a modulus but the reason I switched it was I couldn't get the action to my liking.
