Modulus Mob

I loved this catalog. This was near the beginning of the digital photo age. Chris Campbell did a great job on the brochure. The Q6TBX floating over the water was a great Photoshop touch.

Yeah, it is really smart. It takes me back to when guitar catalogues were the key to sales and brands put a lot of effort into getting them looking good and premium. I used to love flicking through the old Ibanez catalogues, they really knew how to present their stuff. This Modulus catalogue, albeit smaller in scale, shares the same sort of attractive design. The photography is great, that little flash of light on the edge of the gloss finished basses really sets them off and the colours are really well presented.

Yep. I paid too much for it ($3,500 which was list price back then) and I am trying not to lose too much money. It's listed for less than I paid for it as it is. Scarcity affects value as well, and the combination of age, condition, the spectacular top and the other features make this a rare one. If you don't care about those things, there is no reason to pay that much for this bass. If those things matter to someone, maybe they will pay for them. If not, I am quite happy to keep it.

Agreed. That’s what I hear. The bass doesn’t bark like a Stingray...it sounds more like a 2 pickup Q5 on steroids.

I love my EMG Q5 because it doesn't sound like a Stingray. It sounds like a Modulus.
I have four MM Stingrays (and a '78 Maple P) if I want that tone. But I can see why
one would want the flexibility.

Hi all. I'm looking for a Modulus Genesis 5 (Michael Tobias collab).
Fretted, in good overall condition and preferably with Jazz Bass style pickups.
I know that they're quite rare these days, but please let me know if anyone is selling one or if maybe you know of someone who has it up for sale. Feel free to PM me as well.
Thank you very much in advance!

I've got this exact bass, right down to the pickups. I've played it for almost 20 years. Love it. I hope you are able to find one. Thing is built like a tank. I've only had to have the neck adjusted once in all that time.

Pretty sure saw couple of jj versions come up on ebay or reverb not too long ago. They might have got snatched pretty quick. Search completed listings + auto search + patience are key.
