Where in CA are you? Geoff at SF or Sonoma County GuitarWorks could help you out with a replane/refret. Won’t be cheap, though.

You could also contact Tony at Modulus Graphite. The head luthier for Modulus is in the bay area and could also help you out. He did the work on my Q5. Again, not cheap and you will wait a long time to get it back.

I had the case on my m-92 of a slight bow, I had the fingerboard replanned and refretted, also Plek'ed, now it's not "perfect" but it plays nice. The cavehead is that I should not change the strings that I'm using (I set up on the G.Gould standard set that I love but I got to be careful if one day they stop being available).

That said...does it mean that a wood fingerboard is a better choice? I really prefer the feel of phenolic (and I also think it looks better)

I think phenolic looks good, when new it looks like ebony to me.

I'm wondering what the care and maintenance of phenolic is. Over the years my fretboards turned a little grey. I took the advise of those on this thread and rubbed some wd40 on it which restored it to looking black. Would doing so periodically (once a year perhaps) chase out or prevent moisture accumulation / be a worthwhile preventative, or would that just be a cosmetic thing?

I have a question, you guys seem to know what’s going on. I don’t follow too closely what’s going on with Modulus, I wish them well. I’m very proud of what they are, but I’m puzzled. Someone has hacked their page on Facebook, and no one has done anything about it. Is there something going on where Modulus is currently not paying much attention?

Well it's not a huge company right and...reaching to someone in Facebook is quite the challenge (very very poor customer support)

Oh, this? Maybe just give planet bass a call, or an email? Are they active on this forum? I don't recall having seen them during my short attendance here...

They didn’t do much on FB before they got hacked, seems like they are more about the ‘gram…

Planet Bass doesn’t seem like they have a whole lot going on either, only 2 Modulus basses (and nothing else) showing in stock on their site…
