Modulus Mob

Gotta say, this new 6-string lined fretless has been a huge amount of fun. Intonation, especially on chords, has been less than instantly perfect. But Modulus sure can build some fine eye candy...

Thanks!

I thought so when I saw her too ... and the photo doesn't do it justice at all! Actually the photo doesn't do the other bass justice either. I bought the fretless used ... not sure what wood it is but I think it's walnut. I've owned a lot of high end bases and these take the prize ... I love em! :hyper:

Yeah my green Q5 has a flame that in real life is just as stunning, but is lost on pictures.
People flip out when that thing comes out! :bassist:

I'm sure they do! Modulus does an amazing job on their quilt and flame finishes! The guitarist I work with has seen me go through at least 12 basses including 3 beautiful Alembics but the Red Mod blew his mind. Must have said to me a dozen times over the last few gigs (I just got it around a month ago) that it's his favorite color of all time. Actually walked up to it the 1st gig ... rubbed the body and said "Wow, that's the most beaufitul bass I've ever seen, I LOVE the color!" He's got quite the collection of very nice guitars so from him that's a huge complement!

here is my 1978 modulus / alembic bassstar that i sold the neck to a friend and just got back tonight. I reunited it with its original body and life is good again! walnut body with paduak strips , EMG prototype dual mode pickups.

Thanks R S B----

I have a question for anyone......
I am a pretty new Modulus player, and my new band's very first gig was on a DARK stage. Keep in mind, I am playing a synth at the same time (ala Geddy) and switching back and forth to my 6 ^^ it was REALLY hard to see positioning. It has no fret markers, and the side dots are pretty dim on a black (of course) neck.

Granted, not all stages will be as dark as this one, but ya never know.....

Here's my question......is there anything flourescent or shiny that can be stuck or painted on the side dots to make them more visible without ruining the neck ?

Welcome #15 waffle puzzle and his gorgeous Q6!

As far as the markers go, only thing I could suggest are Simms LED's, but that's prolly a lot more than you'd want to spend.
I really offer no help here bro, sorry.

And updates to come this PM about my custom Q5 in the works. Tony will be filling me in on where they are and I hope they're ahead of schedule! :hyper: :hyper:

Its quite nice, lemme tell ya!
I agree. With EMG pickups and a phenolic fingerboard, set the EQ and pan just right and you'd swear you have a bit of flanging going on in there somewhere, especially with the G and C strings higher up the neck. A wonderful sound.

But dial in a bit more neck pickup, roll off the highs a bit, and it's a good thumping bass.

That's why I'm glad my fretless has both the Lane Poor AND the EMG. It definitely helps with articulation. I favor the neck/LP when I want some thump, but to get a better, more cutting tone I kick more towards the bridge EMG and get great results.
