Is that a 6 with the hip shot bridge or the standard?

it's the standard cirrus bridge. a bit tricky to dial in, but a good bridge.

If I may muddy the waters further, I’ve never gotten excited over any Modulus I’ve ever tried out. Whatever they have, it just misses me. OTOH, I own three Peaveys, including a Cirrus, that I find to be magnificent in every important way.

To be clear, I by no means meant to disparage the Cirrus, I had one and it's a beautifully made bass, I just couldn't get along with the inherent midrange it had.

The normal market price for a Modulus is about 3x the normal market price of a Cirrus. At normal prices, I'd say the Cirrus is a much better value. I would buy one and save the rest of the money for other gear. If for some reason they're the same price, then sure, get the Modulus.

FWIW, my other two Peaveys are G-Basses, with carbon fiber necks, that competed in the same market segment as Modulus. They are lights-out versatile instruments, with the same pickup and preamp as the Cirrus, but just one pickup.

Some had the Millennium preamp, which had a mid frequency sweep. I'd agree that the pickups and preamp didn't add much flexibility in the mids.

I loved that bass in every other way, suuuuper comfortable, really well constructed, just could get the tone I wanted out of it.

Hated selling it.

Both fine basses, but different.
I'd want to play both.
I can say that my Cirrus seems to have cured my GAS.
Then again, I never played a Modulus.

Love the look and the sound of the cirrus. But the tone of the modulus is hard to replicate. So that is why I am asking opinions.

If you want that tone, you want that tone.

Seems only you can answer that question. I don't think a Cirrus can ever sound like a Modulus.

So here is the part that might help. For my toto cover and the cirrus would be great. And for my Megadeth cover band the modulus as that is what each band used. And I can't afford both. So which would could cover more ground?

I feel like the Modulus would be the most flexible.

As much as I loved the Cirrus, I felt it had a very baked in midrange character the could not be EQ'd out. INHO, of course, others may have a different view.

Edit. From an investment standpoint, the Modulus may be the better choice as well.
