Yeah, please keep us posted. What with our enthusiasms mentioned in this thread and shared respect for Markbass, it sounds like we have a lot in common as far as good taste in gear. ;)

Amen to that...
You have good tastes Bill and the same B-day as my little one, so you can't be half bad. :p

Cheers

Does Status make replacement necks with wood fretboards? I'm doubting it, and even if they do I bet they'd be very expensive.
What about Modulus? I love their chechen boards..but the only replacement Modulus necks I found online were fretless... and I definitely want fretted

Contact a Modulus dealer.
Talk to Basscentral they can order you one.

OMG! fourfinger...I think that might be my old bass, I sold it about 17 years ago. I had it on display at a vintage guitar show and later met the buyer (you, fourfinger?) at a neutral location.

If it has (or had) Bartolini pickups, that makes it more likely. I installed the Barts, which required routing the pickup cavities deeper.

Double E this absolutely IS that bass, and I am the guy who bought it from you the next day in Medina. I have never seriously considered selling it; it just sounds better than anything else I ever played, even though I am kind of trying to "retire" it in favor of something a bit lighter and with a narrower neck, perhaps since I am now a bit heavier and stiffer in those four fingers.

I still have the Bartolinis in it! You did very well adding those. I did not realize you re-routed it deeper. Now I feel better about having sold the original pickups years ago. I remember you saying how you used the bass on a number of recordings (including commercials, IIRC) because of its sound.

Thanks, I am very happy that you posted! I often wondered if you ever missed it; you had just bought a fantastic Warwick 5-string at the time.

Well that is just awesome, I am so glad the bass has maintained a place of prominence in it's new owner's line-up, as it had in mine. This bass was (is) a monster and deserves to be played. The Warwick was a great bass and I laid down some great tracks with it too but I did (do) miss this Cutlass II alot.

Thanks for posting and keep groovin'

And now back to your regularly scheduled program!

Thanks for all the poll votes and replies. I love Talkbass.

I just bought a Modulus BassStar so that will fulfill my desire for a Modulus "Jazz style" bass but since it's got a P/J configuration it won't technically be another Jazz bass. Best of both worlds.

Nice! I hope you get a lot of pleasure out of that one. Sounds cool.

Oh yeah...

No pics, no bass. :D

Modulus BassStar basses are great. I think you'll have years of enjoyment out of that one.

I have also had some negative experiences with Moses. In my experience their necks are not on par with modulus, zon, status, or graphite steinbergers.

As for my Modulus basses, I did unload from a gig late one evening ( iowa winter) and I forgot my basses in my car in my Incase dub bag. I had my VJ and my Q6 in the bag. I remembered them the next day. I freaked out and grabbed them out of the car. I let them warm up for about 30 minutes and nothing was wrong with them at all. It was -25 outside.

pretty sweet.

Now that is cool and very hard to beat.

My Status neck will be ready this week and out the door over here. I have some serious outdoor gigging in the radical New England Summer & Fall...So this bass well see some climate changes and will report on its status (agghhhhh....lame pun :p)

Just to let some folks know have gigged a bunch with my Status/Ray35 this summer it was pretty humid early summer and now its been really rainy with the hurricanes a happening.

Its has not budged.
I have taken it to the beach left in the car and gone for a quick surf, then straight to where ever to play and it has not moved, not to mention its sounds like a really rich sounding maple neck with a quicker attack. ;)
