Mohini Dey @ St Louis City Winery

She was performing in Portland with MonoNeon a few weeks ago. I'd really like to see him but I don't want to give her any of my money or support. Without going into detail, she has some online behavior and ideas I strongly dislike, so I'll wait until I get another chance to see MonoNeon perform. I think he's a rising talent.

This so much about the online behavior issues

Same. Victor Wooten told me Mono Neon is fantastic and I should check him out, but I didn't want to give her any money.

Can you hum or sing anything she has done?
She reminds me of the chop-heavy bootlickers I used to see coming out of Berklee Youtube showcases in the early 2010s.
On the other hand, she seems to have picked a hustle that's pretty polarizing and controvercial.
I'd rather go see Esperanza Spalding, who is also apparently on tour this summer.

I want to see Esperanza Spalding, but my wife says she has plans for that day.

No, I was curious, because the majority mention them for hiring her and that it's not Neil, blah blah and such.

To me that's the least of my concern, she's probably great, she's not Neil and will never be Neil, but I feel like this tour isn't to please fan and younger people who couldn't live through RUSH's earlier tours. And their behaviour already disappointed me before this tour. I've been truly sad and even angry with them, but such is life..

I saw her last month at the Boston City Winery.

The woman can certainly play, but thinking back on it, nothing particularly comes to mind about the show. She came out, played, no encore, did the thing in the lobby selling merch.

She played for 70-80 minutes (maybe). Very fusiony. Not a slapfest, but there were elements. The other members of the band seemed a bit superfluous - the horn player seemed to sit out most of the songs..

Chatted with the drummer/boyfriend after the show for a few minutes. (I was there with our band's drummer) Nice enough fella, not nearly the online choad that comes across.

Dey is a complicated person. I'll leave it at that.
