MOHINI DEY

He’s too obnoxious to watch. Could someone summarize?
Mohini Dey - great player, not so great person, in deep with Big Tech and AI (and he cites numerous examples using her own words and posts)

Do you want to know the twist?

All the music used in the video was created with Suno AI using Mohini Dey's bass playing as the prompt

It’s just such a waste. All that talent and hard work to end up appropriating the worst components of American ‘culture’. The money worship, arrogance, etc etc etc. Sapko drives me a bit batty - but he’s spot on with this one. Such a disappointment.
Who needs talent or hard work when AI can do it all for you?

Btw, I don't think American culture was required. Narcissism, egotism, materialism, avarice, and malice exist in Indian culture as well.

Personally I find it difficult to support an artist who touts AI generated music. It's not a creative tool when there's zero human input beyond a verbal or written prompt. It's a machine to create soulless drivel.

The catalog of musicians who are or were awful people is quite large, and I'm not innocent of looking past that to still enjoy the music of a lot of artists that could be on the list. In this case, while I respect the talent, I'm lucky in that I don't really dig her anyways.

I remember when she was brought to my attention, probably when she was a teenager on YouTube. Her bass was bigger than she was, yet she already had a MarkBass endorsement. I was blown away.
But over the next few years I grew tired of her style of playing, all this ultra-fast ticky-tocky-tippy-tappy stuff.
Now after seeing the “Sapko Files”, I’m quite disgusted.

She was playing in town last week, and if I had money to burn and time on my hands, I would have worn a BEHS t-shirt and sat in the front row…with earplugs.
