Moises is an AI app that includes audio separation. The AI allows it to distinguish a bass from keyboards or guitar even when the frequencies overlap. It's not perfect, but it's getting better. For example, see measures 29 and 30 of the transcription of Dreams from the first (eponymous) album by The Allman Brothers Band. Berry plays a major pentatonic line, but sometimes the individual notes are tough to hear. You might be thinking, "So what?" He played it differently every time. I get that, but sometimes it's fun to identify the notes just for the challenge. I attached audio extracts of the original recording and a Moises version. The Moises version has the bass panned far right and everything else far left. The bass boosted from the default 75% to 100% and everything else at 75%. I repeated the two bars four times in the extracts. I think the notes are easier to hear in the Moises version.

I'm finding it helpful for jazz, exceot for the fact it doesn't work that well to remove bass with some old recordings. I am using the free version maybe getting the subscription will mean better separation?

Tempo manipulation works great.

I have the paid version, it still really struggles with seperating bass on older recordings. I think maybe it relies to an extent on stereo panning and low-low frequencies to identify it. It sometimes surprises me. But generally I think it has some way to go before it can reliably pull the bassline out of old mono recordings that were done with just a couple if mics and then deliberately mixed with minimal bass (relative to nowadays) to avoid making a stylus jump out of a record groove.
Having said that, Moises is still the best money I've spent on anything gear related in a long long time.
I do wish it had something to alter pitch minutely though, for stuff that was recorded a few cents off pitch.

Garageband does cent tone adjustments but you'd have to export your mixed track first in Moises to get it into garagebamd. Not to convenient.

Oh that's something I didn't realise. I have Garageband and would not mind going to that trouble.
It's just a couple of Little Richard tunes and a few other early rockers I have that are annoying me. I guess the band tuned to the piano and that was out by a few cents.

I use Moises a lot, but if you want pitch correction, RipX allows you to edit individual notes too. In Moises, sometimes adjusting the reference from 440Hz to something else can give you enough adjustment when the whole recording is a little off.
 
I used to pay for Moises, but since the last update of Logic Pro for iPad I just use stem splitter in Logic. Works as good as Moises and I think it’s even better than Moises when bass parts are over 12th fret (based on my comparison on just one tune: Louis Cole - I’m the President). And I have a whole DAW for the same price as Moises.

To tune the playback in Moises, go to the song key in the top right corner. Use the drop down menu next to Tuning (Hz). The default will be the Hz for A on the recording. I'm not sure how to convert Hz to cents, but I'm sure someone here does.

i recently purchased logic pro and have been using the stem splitter function to learn a few bass lines.

i agree that it's better than moises, but appreciate that moises is a fraction of the price...
 
So 100 cents equals 26.16 Hz. Or, 1 Hz is about 4 cents? I assume fewer Hz per semitone in lower frequencies and vice versa? I usually just tune the exported audio file to A=440. If I want a different key, I do that in Transcribe!

This is exactly the issue: cents are linear with respect to pitch, but frequencies are logarithmic with respect to pitch. So there is no 1:1 conversion between Hz and cents.

I meant Logic Pro for iPad - you can’t purchase it because it’s subscription based only. I don’t know what’s the pricing in the US, but in Poland it’s ~7.40$ monthly for Moises vs. ~6.85$ monthly for Logic Pro, so it was an easy choice for me.

An octave is 1200 cent, so the formula to get the interval in cents from the two frequencies f1 and f2 is

c = 1200cent * log2(f2/f1)

The logarithm here is the log base 2. If your calculator only has natural logarithms (ln) then it changes to

c = 1200cent * (ln(f2/f1) / ln2)

So you have a record that has the A above middle C at 436 Hz and you want it at 440 Hz then you need to increase pitch by 1200*log2(440/436) cent = 15.8 cent = 16 cent.

In reverse if the frequency you hear is 525 Hz and you think it is 6 cent too high then you should adjust the frequency to be f2 = f1* 2^(-6cent/1200cent) = 525 Hz * 0.99654 = 523.2 Hz.
