I get that, but sometimes it's fun to identify the notes just for the challenge.

Totally agree. I'm currently working on transcribing an isolated version of Rush's 'Working Man'. Not satisfied with the first run through, I'm doing a second pass and have caught a couple of errors, on my part.

I still have a little trouble distinguishing between passing notes, a half step apart...

The 'pull offs' at 03:14... this is what I hear from the isolation:

E E E DBE E E DBE D B G A

Specifically, the 'B's in this phrase. Is it a 'B' or a 'Bb'? Geddy hangs on that Bb quite a bit throughout the song (mostly in passing), and it's actually easier to play the above phrase (second position), IMO.

Like you said, the challenge is identifying the correct notes! Almost forgot... and playing it!

Back to the drawing board! 🍻
