Mojotone CTS Blender, Will it work w/ J Bass?

Hey all, I’m looking into options for a blend pot for my newly acquired j bass. I found this, and I’m wondering if it’ll work for a j bass?Mojotone CTS Blender Potentiometer - 250k

The write up says it’s for a strat, but is there any reason it wouldn’t work for a jazz?

I don't want to say no, as there may be a way that I don't know about, but I haven't seen a circuit that uses a pot like that. Take a look at this thread for a great circuit discussion. I'm using the no_ground circuit without the no load mods to the pots, and it sounds great.

Normal blend pots are double-decker pots.

Hmmm, so it sounds like this isn’t a common component for the blending.

I like the simple single pot, and the price of it. I sent the sweetwater sales people a message asking for details about it, wiring diagram, etc.

We’ll see what they get back with.

This is the wiring diagram from the Mojotone site. It looks like that pot is meant to add either the neck or bridge pickup when you’re switched (with a switch) to the other. The normal J bass blend setup uses a dual gang MN or AC taper potentiometer like Mr Mullins pictured.

Build a new control plate with MN250K blend pot and A500K tone, 0.047uF cap as a start, and your choice of B250K (for darker) or B500K (for a bit brighter) LINEAR volume, using @walterw schematic from the linked thread--you will not be disappointed.

500K's as volume pots are only brighter with the volume dimed - at lower volume settings, they are actually duller than 250K pots.

I'm pretty sure that's just a no-load 250k pot that is NOT a blender pot. I'm going to add a blender pot to a P/J bass I'm putting together. You need a single output (red) and crossed grounds so that as one is turned up the other goes to ground in an equal & opposing way (linear pots only, no audio pots). Here's a diagram I made yesterday (the one on the right):

I have the pickups backwards in the above labeling. I want 100% CCW to be 100% neck pickup and 100% CW to be bridge. At least that seems intuitive to me.

Aside from the can of worms it opens with The Traditionalists, I had my Squier Jazz rewired for vol, balance, tone, using CTS 250k pots from StewMac. Yielded a blend situation just like most active basses. Don't think the Mojotone is the same thing.

I’m starting to even lean in the direction of 3-way switch, blend, tone push/pull as a kill switch.

Rarely to never do I actually need the volume for anything other than a mute on the bass, and the 3way switch would allow for isolated pickups w/o the resistance from the other pickup in the circuit at all. That is, if I understand this all correctly.
