Monitor hookup Peavey XR8300 powered mixer?

I don't see why this *wouldn't* work, but thought I'd ask. This gear belongs to our singer so I don't have it right here to experiment with:

Peavey XR8300 powered mixer. Typical setup - two power amps that can both be used either for mains or one for main and one for monitor. Each power amp also has a "power amp in" 1/4" jack that I assume bypasses all the mixer sections. There also are main and monitor out jacks.
Here's what I want to do for gigs when I have to run sound from the stage:
We have two EV ELX112P powered mains with a single ELX118P sub. Use the main out on front of the mixer to go to this powered speaker system for mains. For monitors - use one of the Peavey's internal amps to power two 8 ohm floor wedge monitors. Now here's the part I'm not sure about - run a cord from the monitor out jack to the input of the other internal power amp (the side that would normally power the mains, but not needed here since we have the EV system). Use that to power an additional two 8 ohm floor wedges.

OK - I'll answer my own long-winded question in case it will help someone else:D

Yes this worked fine - XR8300 powered mixer "main out" jack to EV powered speaker system. Monitor side of internal power amp powering two 8 ohm floor monitors. Ran 1/4" patch cable from the "monitor out" to the "power amp in" jack of the other internal power amp. Used that to power two more 8 ohm floor monitors. So the one monitor level control and EQ on the mixer controlled all 4 wedges.
